New Gene Therapy Shows Promise for Treating Inherited Blindness
A groundbreaking clinical trial has demonstrated that a novel gene therapy can partially restore vision in patients with a rare inherited retinal disorder.

Researchers at the National Eye Institute have reported promising early results from a phase II clinical trial of a new gene therapy targeting Leber congenital amaurosis. The treatment, delivered via a modified adeno-associated virus, restored partial vision in 8 of 14 participants within six months of a single injection.
